This classic Bordeaux is drinking really well right now. As you would expect from wines around the St Emilion region, it has earthy notes and a dry finish with softer tannins from having benefited of a few years of aging. A great value for a quality wine that will look good on your dinner table!
About the wine
Grapes: 70% Merlot/ 30% Cabernet Franc
Region: Bordeaux, FRANCE
Tasting notes: Beautiful garnet color from a few years of aging. The nose progressively opens out to evoke leather and undergrowth with hints of coffee, chocolate and crystallized cherry. On the palate, a supple attack, developing into harmonious sensations of density and softer tannins on the finish.
Food friends: Cured hams. red meat, poultry and cheese
About the winery
Château La Croix du Bailli is one of the properties of the Dignac family. The single plot vineyard has a surface area of 33 acres and stretches out over a little more than half a mile between Montagne & Lussac on the right bank of Bordeaux. The estate is situated on land with 3 different soil types: limestone soil plateau, limestone-clay soil slopes and limestone soil in the valley and the average age of the vines is 30 years. The Dignac brothers have also recently obtained the “HVE” (High Environmental Value) certification.
